CIIN moves to reposition insurance profession

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) will begin moves to reposition the profession of insurance in the country to ensure the continued relevance of the profession and practitioners of the economy.
CIIN President, Mr. Wole Adetimehin, gave this assurance in his acceptance speech after being sworn in as 44th president of the Institute in Lagos. He called for a collaborative effort to reposition the profession and the insurance industry.
To strengthen the relevance of the insurance industry, he said the CIIN would initiate insurance and government relations to promote awareness of insurance among the three levels of government in the country.
Adetimehin also indicated that a great team of operators insurance required with inputs in developing the national budget will be set up. "There will be an annual forum to discuss and analyze the budget with a view to the front burner, the potential for economic growth and in particular, and the expectations of the insurance industry," he said.
As part of efforts to improve education quality assurance in the country, the boss CIIN assured that concerted efforts will be made towards the development and completion of the College of the Institute of Insurance and Management Financial.
Taking into account the perception of the insurance business by the public in the country, said Adetimehin fuzzy perception of insurance experts and industry need to be laundered.He also said there needs a wake-up continues to sustain the profession of insurance, saying, "we must all to ward-off the encroachment in the core areas of practice insurance. Evidence that the insurance services abound visited by non-professional training and experience. This is a trend that threatens the soul of our profession.
